7 Jan 2012: And so the new year...
Greetings and best wishes for the new year, which is slowly lumbering to its feet like a grumpy camel. I am vaguely getting myself together for an electric trio gig tonight at our local in Melton, with Jason Rungapadiachy and Rob Nash. One more UK gig, at the Barley Mow in Derbyshire, and then off for some touring to sunny South Africa. Tour pretty much sorted, although one weekend is still undecided between more gigs in Cape Town and a stint to Durban. As was the case on the last tour Durbs is rather on its own planet, but I am intending to persevere. Remarkably clement weather here in the UK for the festive season, positively balmy at 10 degrees, and we had a wonderful time with our chilluns who forwent X-Box and Facebook for some quality fambly time. (If one counts Cory becoming a crazed demon taking unseemly delight in crushing all and sundry at Monopoly as quality family time.)Along with Cape Town and the garden route, I’ll be doing a 4 day run in Joburg, at Olive’s Bistro in Joburg, from the 15th to the 18th Feb, with Sun 19th in Pretoria just to show I’m not scared. Dates should all be up on the live page, with a few new ones being added as we go. Very pleased to be doing the Jeffrey's Bay/PE dates with John Dickin on percussion, just because he's such a babe magnet....Also looking forward to Rainbow Glen in Montagu, as local lad and webmaster Meneer Hanepoot van Tonder assures me that his tromboning embouchure is going to be as fit as a whippets after brother Chris Tokalon's show the week before. We might even get to have a fish somewhere..
That’s it for the noo….I trust the festive season was good to everyone and hopefully see you at a gig soon..
best,
Robin
